Swiss Mischief #41
When did you begin to play derby?
November of 2009.
What's your primary position?
Utility player. I am a blocker who can jam.
Where are you from?
Originally, I'm from Richmond, NH - a very small town.
What's the story behind your name?
Right before I was allowed to pick my name, I visited Switzerland and fell in love with the country and it's people, so I adopted it. I used to wear blonde pigtails, so it made sense.
You dedicate a lot of time to derby, so what has derby done for you?
Besides getting me into shape after babies and being sedentary, derby has opened up a world where I fit in. I don't feel comfortable in social interactions, generally speaking, but in derby, I belong. I love being an athlete and learning more each day about this ever-evolving sport. I love learning new skills and passing that knowledge on to others. I have never had so many friends in my life. And it feels right.
Derby Idols? How about derby crushes? Lulu Lockjaw of Bay Area. Scald Eagle of Rose City. Vicious Van GoGo of Gotham. And, just retired, Downtown Dallis of Arch Rival.
How did you get into derby?
In November of 2009, I took my kids to a roller skating birthday party, where I skated and they played video games. I loved it, so I looked up local derby teams. There happened to be recruitment the next week, so I bought all the gear and I went. I've never looked back.
Antik AR-1s, Revenge plates, Radar Prestos, 38mm x 59mm, 94A.
Favorite Derby Moment? 2 Firsts: First-ever win which was in overtime. First time I got to play with JSRG down in Virginia. We played so solid as a team. I still get goosebumps about that. It was awesome.
Likes/Dislikes? I like cows. I don't like monkeys.
What's the story behind your number?
+41 is the calling code for Switzerland.
Derby Goals? My derby bucket list is getting pretty full. It would be awesome to help JSRG rise in the rankings!
