The Jersey Shore Roller Girls: The all-women, flat-track roller derby league that continues to take New Jersey by storm!
Our first bout was a tremendous success, when on February 2, 2008, at the Asbury Park Convention Hall, months of hard work finally came to fruition as the first season of the Jersey Shore Roller Girls was kicked off by a fierce bout between the Right Coast Rollers and the Murder Beach Militia. The community response to our league has been overwhelming, and we had the Convention Hall packed to the point where we had to turn people away due to fire codes.
JSRG continues to call Asbury Park Convention Hall home to our bouts in 2013. JSRG is immensely grateful to our growing number of fans, supporters and sponsors for making this possible!
Jersey Shore Roller Girls consists of three intra-league teams (Anchor Assassins, Murder Beach Militia, & Right Coast Rollers) and two travel teams (JSRG All-Stars & JSRG Beatdown).
Our members are women of all ages and backgrounds, willing to fill the Jackson Skating Center several times a week for practice, training, and scrimmaging. We represent the Jersey Shore, with membership stretching to Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Atlantic counties.
The Jersey Shore Roller Girls is proud to be a skater operated organization. The roller derby of today is a revamped, flat-track version of the old-school sport that many of us remember from years ago. Jersey Shore Roller Girls follows the rules and regulations put in place by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association. In this extreme sport, though the girls all wear protective gear at all times, the chance of injury is quite high; but still, our girls give it their all day in and day out.
In addition to hours dedicated weekly for practicing, JSRG members are a part of the community, looking for opportunities to give back. Our home bouts are often paired with a charity, and we have donated time and publicity to local organizations.
